Central Power Station – Bromborough – August 2014

This station was opened in 1918 (though electricity wasn’t introduced to the houses in the area until 1929) by the famous Lever company in to provide power for the surrounding area, (assumingly mostly for the operations of Port Sunlight, which was were most of William Hesketh Lever’s factories and workers village was). The power station was noted for it’s use of coal fired boilers, and eventually later in it’s running, MANWEB took over as it’s domicile.. However their tenure was short lived, and it ceased operation shortly after in 1998.

The only remaining buildings on this land is one cooling tower and the control room and switch room.
